We pray for these couples and for all who are preparing for Marriage or Civil Partnerships in the coming months.
St Gregory’s is here for all the significant occasions in your life. We will be very pleased to hear from you if you are considering getting married. Please note that we do need to ensure that you legally qualify to get married at St. Gregory’s. As with all Church of England churches you will need to have what is known as a “qualifying connection” with the church, which includes your residence in the Parish, either currently or in the past, your parents’ residence in the Parish, or certain other family links such as baptisms, weddings etc. We can advise you in detail about this. It is also possible for couples to marry at St Gregory’s if one or both parties have been married before. Just contact either of the clergy for advice about this.
At this time it is not possible to offer marriage to same-sex couples in church. However, within the guidance provided by the church, we are able to help you celebrate your love and pray for you as you enter this new phase of your relationship if you are entering into either Civil Partnership or a same-sex marriage. We have a Marriage Booklet which you can download at the bottom of the page, which explains most of what you need to know and do. You are very welcome to telephone for an initial chat with Cheryl, or to discuss possible dates with Mandy our Parish Administrator.
The link at the bottom of the page takes you to the Church of England ‘Your Church Wedding’ website, which will also provide helpful information. Getting married is probably the most significant decision a couple will make in their lives and we want to ensure that that is reflected in the planning and preparations for your wedding day. We can guide you in the initial stages as you plan the service itself, but we will always remember that it is your wedding.
Whether you want to be “traditional” or “creative” (or both) we can talk though the possibilities with you. The church is also available for other celebrations such as a Service of Blessing or Renewal of your Wedding Vows, on a significant wedding anniversary (they are all significant aren’t they?) We look forward to hearing from you. Cheryl
